Barriozona Magazine

Welcome to our online site!

Since December 2002, Barriozona Magazine has been dedicated to informing and educating readers on social issues, cultural trends, history, and literature related to Latinos in the United States, Mexico, and Latin America. As a publication, we aim to provide a comprehensive and engaging platform that celebrates the rich diversity of the Latin American experience.

Barriozona Magazine began as a print publication with free distribution in the greater Phoenix, Arizona, area. In 2005, we embarked on an exciting transition, phasing out print to fully harness the limitless potential of the internet.

This strategic move allowed us to reach a global audience and share our content, stories, and perspectives with people in many countries worldwide. As a result, our magazine has grown into a vibrant online platform featuring multimedia resources that inform, educate and entertain.

Barriozona Magazine is published by the Mesa, Arizona-based Hispanic Institute for Social Issues.

Our online magazine explores various topics, particularly immigration to the United States, Latin American literature, Mexican history, and many other issues of interest in Latin America. We aim to dig deeper into these topics, shed light on their complexities, and present thought-provoking content that sparks meaningful conversations.

Most of our content is in Spanish, however, we also offer some articles in English, recognizing the importance of interacting with English-speaking readers and fostering cultural exchange. Through this linguistic balance, we strive to create an inclusive environment where readers can explore, learn, and connect.
